SEGA Announces Mega Drive Classics Hub For Steam

April 21, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

SEGA introduces the SEGA Mega Drive Classics emulator on Steam.

The SEGA name once represented a long line of video game consoles and titles, arguably, their most successful console being the SEGA Mega Drive or Sega Genesis depending where you’re located within the world. It’s been decades since the console first debut for gamers all over to enjoy, but if you’re still a hardcore retro fan then you’re in luck. SEGA has announced their SEGA Master Drive Classics Hub, an emulator that will allow gamers to enjoy a slew of SEGA classics.

This piece of news came through an announcement on the official SEGA United Kingdom website though it’s worth noting that SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub will also release within the United States despite the reveal being selected on the United Kingdom website.

Within the video posted above you can easily get a bit of a nostalgia throwback as to how the emulator works. Essentially, the emulator will resemble a 90’s bedroom as you toss in the SEGA cartridge of your choosing into the system.

There are a few features worth mentioning that will come included in the SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub. If a game selected originally offered local co-op then you can fully expect to see the local co-op still available for gamers to enjoy. Additionally, the emulator will support optional graphic enhancement filters, full controller, and keyboard support, along with the ability to save at any point during gameplay, one feature that some purists may easily take issue with.

Currently, the SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub has plenty of video game classics for the console. You can check out that full list right here while you wait for the hub to update on Steam this April 28, 2016.
