As Microsoft gears up for the launch of its next major OS, Windows 8, the company is prepping its Windows Store—a take on the Apple App Store—to carry applications for the new platform.
Microsoft's Windows Store will not only provide users with apps, but also with games intended for Windows 8. According to The Verge, a source has disclosed a number of games planned for release with the launch of the Windows Store. They include:
- Hydro Thunder
- Toy Soldiers
- Reckless Racing
- Angry Birds
- Ilomilo
- Rocket Riot
- Full House Poker
- Tentacles
- Crash Course
- Ms Splosion Man
- Wordament
The inclusion of games like Ms Splosion Man, Toy Soldiers, and Ilomilo—all three of which are currently Xbox 360 exclusive titles—should come as a surprise. A preview version of the store is set to launch later this month. Developers will be able to submit games and applications to the Windows Store. They can make their applications free or charge anywhere between $1.99 to $999. Microsoft will take 30% of the proceeds, a charge which will be reduced to 20% once the application reaches $25,000 in sales.
Windows 8 will come pre-installed with new versions of Pinball and Solitaire. The OS is expected to launch in March.
