Some interesting new details have appeared about Metroid Prime 4 on LinkedIn. But, the interesting part may be the mere fact that they have appeared on LinkedIn at all.
But let’s go through these details first. This information was found by SuperMetalDave64. Interestingly enough, they were then reshared by UniversoNintendo, who had been recently claiming Metroid Prime 4 was arriving soon, on their blog.
There’ll be no need to translate UniversoNintendo here, but it was interesting that they lent credence to his source and ours, SuperMetalDave64. SuperMetalDave64 shared some proven rumors in the past, but was also discredited quite harshly previously. In this case, he seems to have brought evidence for his claims so we can lend credence to this new information.
First off, he found a certain Edwin Atwell, who had previously done game testing for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. His LinkedIn, now private, indicated that he started working on Metroid Prime 4 since March 2023.
SuperMetalDave64 then explained that Retro Studios had made the call for people to help work on the game between 2021 to 2022, and Retro was able to hire developers who worked on games all across the industry. Edwin was one of those people.
But, this date also pointed to something else. We do know that Nintendo confirmed that they had restarted development of Metroid Prime 4 last 2019. In 2023, they made the call for game testers, which obviously indicates that the title is already in a playable state. In fact, SuperMetalDave64 says that Retro is now at the tail end of development with a playable, testable build.
SuperMetalDave64 also believes, based on Edwin’s timetable, thathe may already be done with his work on the title, and Nintendo is simply holding on to the title for reveal and release.
SuperMetalDave64 then shared the LinkedIn of one Bryce Szandro. You only have to check on his Twitter profile to confirm that Bryce is head, CEO, and founder of Next-Gen Dreams 3D. Bryce’s LinkedIn account revealed that they had also taken on Retro as a client.
Next-Gen Dreams 3D’s specialty is producing video game trailers, and they have worked for the likes of Take-Two Interactive, Xbox Game Studios, Arkane, and most recently, Ghost Story. You can see Bryce’s tweet about the trailer for Ghost Story’s upcoming title, Judas, below.
So, the fact that Retro Studios has a company hired to make their trailer is a big indication that Retro and Nintendo are preparing to reveal Metroid Prime 4. But of course, the fact that this information was popping up in LinkedIn at all was a clear indication that the game definitely had some progress going for it.
When you consider that Nintendo did release Metroid Prime Remastered last year, and are rumored to also be rereleasing Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3, this may be Metroid’s biggest year yet, in the same way last year was Pikmin’s biggest year. That’s definitely one way to send off the Nintendo Switch and launch the next console, if they were doing that too.
