There are quite a few fans out there who are eager to dive into the next season of The Last of Us. With Naughty Dog delivering such a compelling storyline with the game series, it was likely quite an easy adaptation to deliver on HBO. As a result, fans have taken up with the show without ever playing through the games. Fortunately, because of how popular it became initially, HBO was prompted to go through a renewal for a second season during the airing of the first season. Recently, we got word of who will step into Abby’s role. Now, we are learning who will step up to take on the role of Jesse.
The Last of Us Part II introduces players to a wide range of different characters. So we can expect some new faces to join the cast during this next season. Thanks to a report from The Game Awards X social media account, we’re discovering that actor Young Mazino will be stepping into the role of Jesse. Now, we’re going to avoid any spoilers here in case you haven’t played The Last of Us Part II. Jesse, however, is a rather notable character during the journey for the second game, and we expect the same trend for the upcoming season. But we’ll have to wait and see if that ends up being the case or not.
As mentioned, Jesse is not the only character that received an actor this week. Just yesterday, we received word that actress Kaitlyn Dever will take on the role of Abby. Abby was one of the characters fans were quick to wonder who would take her spot in this upcoming season. However, things didn’t go as intended for the production. If you recall, last year, we had the Hollywood strikes that caused several productions to get pushed back. Included in the mix was season two of The Last of Us. So we had to wait for these strikes to end before we got any word as to who was able to join in with the cast.
We already know that the next season of The Last of Us won’t be available until next year. So, we have all of 2024 to get through before we get any insight into what the second season will entail. With that said, it’s likely that we won’t see the production steer too far away from the source material provided in The Last of Us Part II. However, we know that the sequel game installment is far too large of a title to adapt into a single season. That should mean we’ll get a third season. From there, we don’t know what the show will entail. We don’t have a third mainline installment for the game franchise. But that doesn’t mean we might not see a spin-off come out.
