The Day Before was one of those games that had immediate attention from its initial reveal. Fans were ecstatic to try the game out. However, several delays caused some fans to start becoming skeptical. Could this development team pull off a game they started to hype up online? That left players hesitant to put any hope into this title ever releasing. However, it did finally come out this month through early access. After waiting years to try the title, the initial release was far from what fans hoped. As a result, it became heavily hit by players leaving negative reviews.
Initially, the game was highlighted to be an MMO survival game. Players would be left to survive in a world that was heavily hit by a pandemic. A new virus had turned most of humanity into mindless zombies. Then, those who were still alive in this world had formed groups. It was the survival of the fittest and taking what precious resources were left by force. Unfortunately, that game didn’t come to fruition in many players’ eyes. Instead, fans found that this game was more of an extraction shooter, a rather poorly reviewed one.
Now news has emerged today that The Day Before development team has decided to close its doors. The future of the game project looks bleak. Those hopeful that some patch updates would turn the title around will likely be out of luck. With that said the team over at FNTASTIC did note that they are looking to keep the servers up and operational for both The Day Before and Propnight. But beyond that, there’s nothing more they could offer in terms of the future of these two games.
Currently, The Day Before remains available through early access but again with overwhelmingly negative reviews. While the future doesn’t look bright for either of the games, the studio confirmed that they are shutting its doors due to a lack of financials to keep the team going. Instead, all income received is being used to pay off their debts to partners. However, the studio did state in their post on the X social media platform that none of the profits received for the game was taken. Instead, there were no crowdfunding campaigns or pre-orders to earn money for their project.
