Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn’t been officially announced yet, but a recent leak on NeoGAF by user Mideon may reveal the map that players will roam in the inevitable sequel. The image was quickly removed, but that hasn’t stopped other users from reposting it in the thread.
According to Techradar, a source close to the development of the new Red Dead game has said that the map is real, and that the leaked image is a “very recent” art direction map for the upcoming game.
The source also reports that the game will be set before the events of Red Dead Redemption, and that the new map is to the east of the one featured in the first game.
Time will tell if this source is for real, but rumors have been buzzing about a new Red Dead game for a while now, and this leak just adds on to the expectation that we’ll see an announcement from Rockstar this year at or around E3.
The map leak is particularly interesting though due to the fact that there’s so much water on the eastern side. Players weren’t able to swim in the original Red Dead Redemption, but it seems like that will have to be changed this time around, especially when there are several islands to explore.
The original Red Dead Redemption was released way back in 2010, and before that, Red Dead Revolver was released in 2004. It took six years between the first two Red Dead games, so perhaps the same will be true between the second and third.
