MercurySteam’s Next Game Is An Episodic Multiplayer Title For PC, PS4, And Xbox One

April 15, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Fans can sign up for a closed PC beta now.

Raiders-of-the-Broken-Planet
Spanish developer MercurySteam’s next game has been revealed by the developer today and is called Raiders of the Broken Planet.

In development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, the game is described by the Madrid-based studio as an “epic multiplayer online asymmetric adventure” in which players can partner with others to fight invaders or work with the invaders against other players.

Interestingly, it will be a digital episodic title despite its multiplayer nature. While the number of episodes has not been confirmed, MercurySteam says each will be sold at an “extremely low and attractive price point”.

“We saw an exciting opportunity with this title to take advantage of digital distribution and offer the game at a much lower entry point than would otherwise have been possible. This model also allows us to work closely with gamers to create something that they can help shape too,” a company spokesperson commented.

“With its distinctive blend of shooting, brawling and thinking man’s strategy, Raiders of the Broken Planet is a mouth watering proposition to gamers looking for an immersive, cinematic story coupled with intense and epic action,” the developer adds.

If you’re interested, you can check out the game’s closed PC beta on the developer’s website and multiple betas are planned in future. It’s unclear if these will be extended to console as well.

MercurySteam previously worked on the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series for Konami, which it says has shipped “multiple millions of copies worldwide” and resulted in the best-selling Castlevania game.

Raiders of the Broken Planet will be the first game the studio publishes as an independent entity.
