New rumors have come up for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
Miller Ross, who writes for several outlets, including Eurogamer, has seen it fit to leak some details about the game. First things first, the easy stuff: he has confirmed that Nolan North is playing Superman.
Nolan, of course, is most famous for playing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted games. He also voiced the Prince of Persia in the 2008 game, and was Desmond Miles in Assassin’s Creed. When it comes to capes, he has voiced Cyclops, the Penguin, and both Superman and Superboy, notably in Young Justice.
While his isn’t as familiar a voice for Superman as George Newbern, who did his voice in the Justice League WB cartoon, or Danny Dark, who voiced the same character for SuperFriends decades earlier, Young Justice certainly does not account for nothing. Superman in that show was shown to make more mistakes compared to his incarnations in other shows, so perhaps North’s version of the character is most suitable for the game where he is violently and blindly following the orders of Brainiac.
Miller also shared a teaser for the game’s entire roster, and some people think they have identified everyone, but that may not be the case. For clarity, Miller used emojis to represent each character. Because of display limits on this site, we will describe each emoji, but you can also see them on the embedded tweet:
- Diamond suit
- Shark
- Boomerang
- Bullseye
- Clown
- Cold face
- Water pistol
- Weighing scale
- Crocodile
- Flag of Japan
Miller also shared a clarification for the fans who were guessing, that “The scales are NOT who you’re thinking, by the way. Almost an original character.”
Now, Juan Sidney went ahead and made some strong guesses on these characters. Responding to Miller, he said:
“Let me see, Joker, Killer Frost, Peacemaker, Deathstroke, Killer Kroc and Katana, that was a strech, but Let me see If I got it right, cool pick of Characters thou If true.”
In response, Miller said that Sidney got four out of the six right.
Of course, we already know the diamond suit is Harley, the shark is King Shark, the boomerang is Captain Boomerang, and the bullseye is for Deadshot, as the first announced playable characters in the game. As for Sidney’s other guesses, it seems that Deathstroke is likely a mistake, as Miller said it was almost an original character.
I will stretch out my neck for this one and warrant my guess for the mysterious weighing scales character is Libra, the surprise antagonist and deep cut that Grant Morrison reintroduced in Final Crisis. Libra gets his name from the constellation that’s shaped like weighing scales, and his weapon, a spear-tipped staff, has weighing scales on the other end.
The last character that was guessed wrong isn’t as easy to deduce. Some people think the Japanese flag is for Katana, who appeared on one of the Suicide Squad movies. However, could this actually be one of the five Judomasters? One of them was a member of Checkmate, another organization headed by Amanda Waller.
Or maybe the clown face isn’t for Joker, but obscure Flash villain Clown, AKA Lyle Corley. These may all sound like crazy ideas, but don’t forget that the Suicide Squad was originally intended as an easy way for DC writers to use forgotten characters, including killing them off. Literally everyone was on the table on the Suicide Squad’s original 1980s run, and there’s no reason to believe Rocksteady didn’t get the same carte blanche here.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is releasing on February 2, 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows, via Steam and Epic Game Store.
