SteelSeries has a new keyboard coming out that takes the piece of hardware back to its roots for straightforward, no-frills gaming.
The Apex M500 is a new mechanical keyboard dubbed “tournament ready” and aimed at professional gamers and anyone aspiring to compete in games online and offline.
It has a regular profile and uses linear Cherry MX Red switches that are easy to press down but require just enough actuation to prevent accidental misclicks. Like Cherry’s other switches, they’re rated at 50 million key presses.
The keyboard has anti-ghosting technology so unlike regular membrane keyboards you’ll be able to hold down as many keys as you want at a time.
The keyboard is only available with blue backlighting in four levels of brightness that can be adjusted for each individual key using the SteelSeries Engine app.
If you’re interested in getting the Apex M500, it’s available now at select retailers for $99 in the US and €119.99 in Europe.
