Hogwarts Legacy was quite the anticipated game for a few years. Players couldn’t wait to get their hands on the game where we would get our own magical journey. Developers over at Avalanche Software unveiled the game for both last-generation and current-generation platforms. Of course, much like other video game projects, some delays pushed the game back. It took quite a bit of time, but eventually, the title launched at the start of this year for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. It wouldn’t be until May before PlayStation 4 and Xbox One received the game. But beyond that, we knew that the developers were working on a port for the Nintendo Switch.
The game was a hit with fans and critics alike. However, there was always some concern that the game might not run that well on the Nintendo Switch. While the Switch console is no slouch, it doesn’t have the power of its competitors. We are getting an open-world experience with plenty of action-packed gameplay. But fortunately, the studio seemed confident and never canceled the port. Instead, we were given a launch date set for this month. It’s been rather silent for the studio, but today, one individual managed to purchase a copy of the game early.
X user Tal Helfgott managed to get a copy of the game and shared some of the gameplay footage on the social media platform. Unfortunately, the footage wasn’t captured straight from the console through docked mode. However, we do get to see a little over thirty seconds of footage on the Nintendo Switch. So far, the opening moments look great, and according to Tal, the gameplay not only looks great but plays great as well.
That could change depending on different sections of the game. We can’t confirm if that’s the case or not. However, we have seen some games released where certain areas could bog down the system’s performance. So we’ll have to wait and see if that ends up being the case when Hogwarts Legacy launches. With that said, according to the reports from Tal, it looks like Hogwarts Legacy won’t disappoint Nintendo Switch players. This should be quite a relief as it took the studio nearly a year since the game was initially launched before it managed to make its way on the Nintendo Switch.
Again, we can expect Hogwarts Legacy to land on the Nintendo Switch this November 14, 2023. With that said, we do have a Before You Buy video coverage of the game, which you can view below. This won’t necessarily offer insight into the Nintendo Switch platform experience. However, we do give some insight into the gameplay experience and our overall impressions of the game.
