Respawn Entertainment Is Teasing “Something” For Titanfall 2’s 7 Year Anniversary

Respawn seems to be dropping bigger and bigger hints for something huge coming next for the Titanfall franchise.

We had previously reported on a huge rumor that Respawn was teasing Titanfall 3. However, we should clarify here that that the trailer that had been circulating online is now believed to be a hoax. It doesn’t rule out the possibility of Titanfall 3, but there are other possibilities too.

Our source for this rumor is McManus26, who has been collecting the clues Respawn has been dropping in the last few months and sharing his analysis on Reddit.

This all starts with Titanfall 2’s servers being reactivated, allowing players to go online again. As it turns out, Respawn intended to drop their Titanfall teasers and hints here.

To start, Respawn launched two limited time game modes that came with teasers. One game mode, available for one week, was perplexingly named “???.” The description read out “Your Rockets will blot out the sun,” which fans have decided is a reference to the film 300. October 27 is day 300 of 2023, and it also happens to be one day before Titanfall 2’s seven year anniversary.

Another limited time game mode had the description “Blinded by Science.” The community realized this was the name for round 3 in one of the coop missions, and then wildly speculated that this was a Titanfall 3 teaser.

Now, Titanfall 2 has something called the Advocate Network. While Networks are like clans in the game, the Advocate gives all players assignments, and so all players are members of the Advocate Network.

The Advocate’s welcome message of “I am the Advocate, i can find work for pilots who have skills” was changed after the relaunch to “I am the Advocate, welcome back to all pilots”. However, more recently, the Advocate seemed to bug out in sending messages.

Its messages implied it was trying and failing to send an encrypted message. Its final message came with hex code, that the community translated to the message “from candy to copper”. Copper is the traditional gift for a 7 year wedding anniversary.

Here’s where it gets really interesting. This hex code was also found in Apex Legends’ patch notes, which also had references to an encrypted message. Apex Legends also had a recent trailer that showed Titans in combat.

So, we don’t know exactly what or how it is, but we know Respawn is teasing something for Titanfall, that may even be connected to their current hit, Apex Legends. We also know it could come October 27 or 28, basically, this weekend.

Is it a new Titanfall game? A Titanfall mobile or spinoff game? Are they adding Titans to Apex Legends? We’ll find out soon enough.
