THQ’s been hit hard in recent days, especially with the threat of being delisted from NASDAQ. The company has attempted to hit back with the announcement that it would be refocusing its efforts on its core titles, and scrapping its kids’ gaming division with games like Spongebob Squarepants getting the axe.
IGDA’s Kevin Dent says that the troubled publisher is likely to announce a further 170 layoffs at some point today.
Speaking on Twitter, Dent wrote: “This is probably going to break in the morning. I have sat on it for a week or two. The culling at THQ was 170+ souls including Mark DeLoura.” He was referring to THQ’s VP of technology.
We hope that THQ can climb out of the problems they’re currently in.
