You ever hear the expression, “This is why we can’t have nice things?” Well, the people at Bandai Namco will likely enforce that phrase upon gamers soon enough. Why? Well, they were getting ready to launch a new beta for Tekken 8 later this month, but something bad has already happened to it. No, the beta wasn’t “ruined” per se by something the company did. Instead, they put out a pre-load update so that the beta would be ready to go the moment they launched it, and some fans went into that data and were able to crack it! That means they can play the beta RIGHT NOW and get valuable information.
So again, “This is why we can’t have nice things!” If some of this sounds familiar, it’s because Bandai Namco has had to deal with “cracked” versions of Tekken 8 not too long ago when they did a previous beta. It got so bad that Harada himself had to go online to threaten certain gamers who were streaming a cracked version of the game by stating if they continued to do so, they would be banned from online play.
For those wondering why this is ‘such a big deal,’ we’ll tell you. First, those with the cracked version will get to play the game more than the other players who have to wait for things to happen naturally. Second, they’ll get to see MORE than just the game and infer certain things from the data they could crack. Third, the beta was meant to be released by Bandi Namco, and so every time one of their betas gets cracked, they’re going to get angrier, and eventually, the hammer will come down on people. Plus, it’s just mean to do, and it really isn’t worth the effort.
All that aside, the beta will be coming out soon for EVERYONE to enjoy, so gamers can look forward to that. They can also look forward to how crisp and refined the eighth entry in the beloved fighting game franchise will be. Bandai Namco went all out in using Unreal Engine 5 and next-gen systems like the PS5 to bolster what they could do not just with the game but with its looks, animations, and more. The series has never looked this good, and you can see in past trailers just how great it’ll be.
Plus, there will be a deep story mode and plenty of other modes for players to dive into. The game arrives on January 26th.
