The official Pokemon Twitter account has revealed that Pokemon Home functionality is coming to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at last.
As reported by Video Games Chronicle, The Pokemon Company revealed that this feature would be coming alongside update version 3.1.0.
Pokemon Home is the successor of Pokemon Bank, conceived as a way to fulfill a dream that Pokemon fans had but didn’t consistently have from the original games – a way to save all the Pokemon you collected, game after game, to use in future games.
Launched in 2014, Pokemon Bank allowed you to save Pokemon you collected from Pokemon Black, Pokemon Black 2, Pokemon White, and Pokemon White 2. The first game you could then carry over your Pokemon to was Pokemon Sun and Moon. However, once those Pokemon were moved to Pokemon Bank, they couldn’t be put back in the older games.
Pokemon Home released in 2019, and was available as iOS and Android apps, as well as on the Switch. You could transfer your Pokemon Bank data to Pokemon Home. It also interacted with Pokemon Go and all the Pokemon mainline games on the Nintendo Switch moving forward.
Both Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Home required subscriptions. Pokemon Home afforded players a premium tier that offered extra features, including the very impressive ability to trade Pokemon using the app on iPhones or Android phones.
While fans are right to criticize the poor launch condition of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it also happens to be one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games, and one of the best-selling Pokemon games. This feature is being added for the hardcore Pokemon fans who went ahead and bought the game to play it anyway, and they would be the ones to appreciate it the most too.
This news will also be quite welcome for those fans, after The Pokemon Company also revealed the news that every starter Pokemon that wasn’t obtainable in the main Pokemon Scarlet and Violet story campaign will be available to catch in the upcoming DLC.
The only remaining catch now is that we don’t know when update version 3.1.0 is coming for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. For that matter, this was tweeted by the Japanese Pokemon Twitter account, so we don’t know if it will arrive at the same time worldwide, or if the update and Pokemon Home functionality will be coming later for Pokemon players outside Japan.
Still, we’re certain that if you asked the fans, they would be more than happy to wait, so long as The Pokemon Company gets it all right and working perfectly before they decide to release it.
