Following a lengthy development cycle, Quantum Break from Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment has launched today for Xbox One and PC.
In celebration of the game’s release, the studio has published a new video which sees creative director Sam Lake give thanks to Microsoft “for trusting us with this crazy new vision”, to the development which he describes as a “stunningly talented group of people”, and to fans. Lake also takes the opportunity to thank the developers’ families and loved ones for their continued support throughout the project.
Quantum Break was originally due for release in 2015 but was delayed to this year by Microsoft in order to spread out Xbox One exclusive releases. Remedy has said the decision to delayed will ultimately benefit the game.
While the game itself focuses on the hero, Quantum Break also comes with an associated companion live action TV series featuring Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings), Shawn Ashmore (X-men), Lance Riddick (Fringe), and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones). The show is centered on the villains.
The episodes of the show are not featured on the disc and are instead streamed, though viewers have the option to download the show at 1080p on Xbox One and 4K on PC.
“We have 40 different variations of the show in total where basically your choices get to make it evolve and change whether it’s from a junction choice or we have these things called ‘Quantum Ripples’ which essentially unlocked sort of deleted scenes from the show,” Remedy’s narrative designer Greg Louden said in March.
