Assassin’s Creed fans are waiting on the next mainline installment to release into the marketplace. We know that this next game is coming in October, but most recently, there were a few headlines that popped up. A leak revealed a cosmetic microtransaction that would be featured in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Since then, there was a wonder as to how far Ubisoft would be taking microtransactions for their upcoming video game. Now we finally have a statement to confirm microtransactions are coming and what players can expect from them.
Thanks to a report from True Achievements, a spokesperson from Ubisoft reached out and alerted the publication that there would be microtransactions available in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. However, you will find that these microtransactions are cosmetic bundles that can be purchased directly from first-party stores when the game launches. Furthermore, it’s noted that these cosmetics are options and will have no impact on the player’s progression. That shouldn’t come to much surprise, as we know this next mainline game is going more toward the Assassin’s Creed franchise roots.
If you haven’t been paying too much attention to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you might be surprised when it launches. While the previous few mainline installments offered a large open world map to explore and a campaign that could last upwards of sixty hours and even longer if you opted to participate in some of the side content featured. But with this upcoming installment, we’re going to see things dialed back. We’re getting a smaller and more linear experience than the franchise was initially known for.
With Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we’re also stepping into a character role we’ve seen introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In this game, we’re stepping into the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq. Set during 9th-century Baghdad, we’ll follow Basim as he starts off as a common street thief. But eventually, we’ll see Basim become a member of the Assassin Brotherhood. Players interested in the upcoming game can expect this title to land on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms on October 12, 2023. In the meantime, you can check out a game trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage in the video we have embedded below.
