Lies of P Has Officially Gone Gold

August 8, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready for this game to land next month.

Plenty of hype built up around Lies of P. Developed under Round8 Studio, and fans quickly took up with the storyline and the soulslike gameplay teased for the title. But it’s always a waiting game to see just when the development team has hit their fabled gold status. It looks like the development team behind the upcoming Lies of P have finally hit that milestone, and that should mean nothing is preventing this title from hitting the marketplace at its intended launch date.

The developers have revealed on the official Lies of P Twitter account that the studio has reached the game’s gold status. Now players should expect this video game to land in the marketplace on September 19, 2023. We can offer some insight if you’re uncertain what gold means for a video game development studio. Developing video games takes a long time, so it’s a huge milestone when a team reaches gold. When that happens, it means that the game build the developers have finished is ready for the public. Essentially, this is the build that can be mass-produced for discs, and manufacturing can begin to ensure copies are produced.

It is our genuine pleasure to announce that #LiesofP has Gone Gold. Truly, we cannot wait for your arrival in Krat on September 19.

From there, the games are shipped out to retailers and eventually put out on store shelves when the launch date arrives. Of course, the game development team is typically not done with the production. We often see studios continue working on the game and bringing out a day-one patch to optimize further or clear out the bugs for players. That’s not always the case, and we might not see a day one patch for Lies of P, but that’s what some studios are able to do after reaching gold status and before its actual street launch date.

If you haven’t been keeping tabs on Lies of P, this is a new take on the classic Pinocchio tale. In fact, the developers even expressed why they picked this tale to begin with when it came to developing Lies of P. But overall, the game is about a mechanical puppet named Pinocchio who awakes in the abandoned train station of Krat. With the city consumed with chaos, Pinocchio has one goal on its mind. Players will help our protagonist reach Geppetto and strive to become a real man. Again, this game is set to launch on September 19, 2023. When Lies of P does launch into the marketplace, you’ll find it available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
