Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC Gets First Release Date!

August 8, 2023 by Todd Black

It’s about time!

There were a lot of questions going into this morning’s Pokemon Presents, but the biggest one by far was whether the two-part Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC would finally get a release date. The Pokemon Company unveiled the content earlier in the year during a Presents show on Pokemon Day. But since then, we’ve only gotten new glimpses at the DLC and no indication about when it would arrive on Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, today we got at least part of the answer as “The Teal Mask” announced its arrival date, and it’s coming relatively soon.

As shown in the trailer below, “The Teal Mask” will arrive on September 13th, so we only have about a month to go until you can play it. Here’s the official synopsis of the content:

“In this year’s annual school trip, students from various schools – including you! – will be sent to the land of Kitakami, where people live at the feet of tall, towering mountains and the tranquil landscape is teeming with nature unfamiliar to Paldea, flourishing among rice paddies and apple orchards. At this time of year, the villages hold festivals, bustling with all kinds of stalls and stands. Make new friends and meet new Pokémon as you unravel the old legends of Kitakami.”

We’ve seen this area’s many legends in past trailers, including the three Pokemon that allegedly saved the area from mask-wearing Pokemon. All four will play a big part in the storyline, so be ready when they show up!

Sadly, the second half of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet didn’t get a release date and is still slated for “Winter 2023.” However, “The Indigo Disk” did get some time in the new trailer, and it unveiled some new details, not the least of which is that this new place you’ll go to, The Blueberry Academy, will have its own Elite Four for you to challenge!

We also saw new Pokemon be revealed for Area Zero, including new versions of Raikou and Cobalion, who are two legendary Pokemon, as well as the Pokemon Dipplin, who is a newly evolved form of Applin. You can check out the full trailer below:

While this won’t fully satisfy all fans, as they wanted both release dates shown today, at the very least, they got one, and that one will be able to satisfy them until Part 2 is ready. Let’s just hope The Pokemon Company does the DLC launch better than the main game launch.
