The Witcher franchise has been a hit with the video game industry for several years now. Three mainline installments were released under the development team, CD Projekt Red. However, the franchise might have blown up even more with the successful Netflix series. Recently, we just had the last few episodes released for the third season. That ultimately means fans are itching for more content based on The Witcher. While there are books that fans could turn to, some might be interested in giving some of the video games a shot.
As mentioned, there are three installments for The Witcher by CD Projekt Red, and if you’re not interested in returning to the earlier releases, you might be eyeing the most recent release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Fortunately, if you’re a subscriber to PlayStation Plus Premium, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition has a new trial. Thanks to PlayStation Game Sizes on Twitter, we’re discovering that players can try the game out for a total of four hours. That should hopefully give you enough gameplay to determine whether you should purchase the game or not.
Of course, this video game series is different from the show. You’ll find that the three mediums for The Witcher are different. Both the Netflix show and the video games use the books as source material. But they are not direct copies of the novels written up. So if you’re diving into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you might want to look on YouTube for some recaps of the first two video game installments. Regardless, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was praised as a thrilling open-world RPG and was highly recommended by fans along with critics.
With that said, we know a new season is in the works for Netflix’s The Witcher. Likewise, CD Projekt Red is not done with the IP either. Outside of a remake for the first installment, we know that a new trilogy is set out in The Witcher universe, along with another project that aims to feature multiplayer. But details on these projects are still scarce for now. In the meantime, we do have a Before You Buy on the next-generation update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which you can view down below. Additionally, we have a Before You Buy for the game’s port release on the Nintendo Switch, which you can view right here.
