The Last Xbox Games With Gold For August 2023 Revealed

July 27, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what to expect.

It’s coming to an end for Games With Gold. This Microsoft Xbox Live Gold subscription service has been around for years, allowing players to enjoy their video games online with friends. Of course, we now know this subscription service is being killed off and replaced. But we still have one more month to enjoy it as next month’s Games With Gold titles have been officially revealed. If you’re a subscriber, then make sure to pick up these final two games being offered, as afterward, we won’t be seeing these free video game title offerings as we used to each and every month.

The Xbox Games With Gold for August 2023 will consist of two free games you can claim. All you need to be is a subscriber to Xbox Live Gold to claim the games and have them within your library. Those free titles being offered starting on August 1, 2023, will be Blue Fire and Inertial Drift. Both games typically cost players $19.99, but you can claim these games for free through Xbox Live Gold. You’ll also have until August 31, 2023, before the games are removed and again put back into the storefront for everyone at their $19.99 price tag.

As mentioned, we knew that this was the final Games With Gold month. Microsoft revealed that Xbox Live Gold would be killed off and replaced with a new subscription service. This service will be called Xbox Game Pass Core. Fortunately, there’s no change in price, and if you’re already a subscriber to Xbox Live Gold, you don’t have to do anything. Instead, the service will automatically take over the Xbox Live Gold for the same price. There’s not much difference either, as you’ll still get the different member deals and discounts. Likewise, this subscription service will still grant you access to online multiplayer.

However, with this new Xbox Game Pass Core being activated on September 14, 2023, you’ll find the monthly free video game offerings will be removed. Instead, Microsoft will provide players on this Xbox Game Pass tier with a collection of over twenty games that you can enjoy at no additional cost. It’s also said that new titles will be added to this tier two to three times per year.

Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate might be your best option if you’re after both video games and online multiplayer access. This grants you all the benefits of the current Xbox Live Gold, soon-to-be Xbox Game Pass Core, along with all the Xbox Game Pass library and EA Play titles.
