There has been plenty of chatter online lately about a potential announcement of a PlayStation 5 Slim. That model was rumored about for a good while, and it was expected that we would see some kind of an announcement during the PlayStation Showcase event scheduled for May earlier this year. Unfortunately, that event ended without mentioning a new PlayStation 5 model. But the rumors continued to pour in online, with even Microsoft pointing out that they speculated a PlayStation 5 Slim model was in the works during their FTC court case.
So with all these rumors circulating and no official announcement, we’re left in a bit of limbo. But a new clue might soon suggest a big reveal is coming soon from Sony. A reliable industry insider who has a strong record recently took to Twitter and offered a small hint that a price cut is coming. We’re referring to Billbil-kun, who has taken to Twitter and offered a tweet with a few emojis. Most are speculating that the individual’s hint is that the PlayStation 5 is soon about to receive a big price cut for the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.
We’re unsure how long we might have to endure before we see an actual announcement. However, plenty of Sony fans are out that likely haven’t picked up a PlayStation 5 console. If this price cut happens, we might see a big surge of newcomers pick up the console. With that said, the big story here is that this might be a price cut used to get rid of the current stock available for the PlayStation 5 in order to make room for a big revision model.
So again, eyes are on Sony to see if they are bringing out a PlayStation 5 Slim console model. Unfortunately, we don’t have anything official quite yet from Sony. As a result, we just have to continue monitoring retailers and Sony to see if they announce a sudden price drop for the PlayStation 5 console lineup and if that also comes with the grand reveal of their PlayStation 5 Slim edition.
With that said, here in the United States, you can still find PlayStation 5 units rather easily through your favorite retailers. Without going through a bundle deal, you can find a standard PlayStation 5 unit for $499.99, while a digital-only model of the PlayStation 5 will run you $399.99.
