PlayStation has been doing a lot over the last few years to try and “embrace the market” more than it had in the past. Specifically, they haven’t been afraid to put their PS4/PS5 games on PC after a decent amount of time. We’ve seen this so far with the games featuring Aloy, Nathan Drake, Kratos, Miles Morales, and most recently, Joel and Ellie. Granted, not all of their launches were smooth, but most of them got big numbers by having PC ports. Fast forward to now, and we’re less than two weeks away from Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart arriving on PC.
The title is an interesting one for multiple reasons. First, it was the first game in the franchise in a long time, and many were curious if the team at Insomniac, who had been obsessed with getting pictures of Spider-Man, still had what it took to bring their original dynamic duo back to the gaming world. Turns out, they didn’t miss a beat, and it was one of the earliest successes on the PS5. That was important because in the console’s early days, not many people could buy it due to shortages. So having success like that was a godsend to them.
The other reason that the game was special was that initially, Sony said that you couldn’t have the game on any other system due to the PS5’s Solid State Drive. The SSD apparently allowed Insomniac to do a special time travel mechanic that “wasn’t possible” without it. However, when you look at the specs of the PC port below, you’ll notice that the SSD drive isn’t required:
So clearly, they found a way around that “issue,” and so gamers will hopefully have no major problems playing the game when it arrives on the 26th.
As for what Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is about, Ratchet & Clank are about to find out about their multiverse! Yep, it’s another multiverse story. This time, their greatest enemy takes them to a dimension where the duo never met and saves the day. That means bad things for everyone in that dimension!
However, there are still good Lombaxs fighting the good fight, including Rivet, who you’ll team up with to save two dimensions!
Everything you love about the original games is here, including the over-the-top weapons, fun story, snappy visuals, and more.
So check out the specs to ensure your PC can run the game, and then grab the title when it arrives!
