Gameloft has revealed a new feature they are adding to Disney Dreamlight Valley, that we think many fans have been waiting on since they started playing.
DreamSnaps, as you can pretty much imagine, is a new feature to let you take photos. As reported by Comic Book, this feature is coming ahead of the next major update, Update 6.
But it’s best to let Gameloft explain the feature themselves on their official Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitter account:
“The DreamSnaps Update in coming soon and with it, a brand new way to flex your creativity and earn exciting rewards!
- Submit a photo in weekly challenges
- Vote on your faves
- Earn weekly Moonstones (and more)!
This new method of bringing content to the game specifically focuses on a new feature that will continue to receive updates and evolve over the coming months.
Think of it as a smaller-scale treat to tide you over between major content updates.
We think DreamSnaps will make your time in the Valley even more rewarding and can’t wait to hear what you think!
Your feedback will be hugely important as we refine DreamSnaps over the coming updates, so stay tuned for more!”
Of course, a photo mode is a major addition to a game like Disney Dreamlight Valley. Taking photos in-game is so popular that game consoles have them as a feature, even for games that don’t have them natively.
But the way Gameloft describes this photo mode suggests that their implementation of it isn’t as fully featured as we have come to expect.
In particular, Gameloft states that they are looking for user feedback to ‘refine’ DreamSnaps. That suggests that they have just got the feature working as is, and extra accoutrements like filters and clipping tools, are up for consideration, if the game’s users themselves ask for it.
It’s also notable that this feature has to work on all platforms. While some gamers may think that the potential bottleneck here would be the Nintendo Switch, actually it’s compatibility with lower end PCs that could potentially be at risk if Gameloft makes features that are too advanced.
You can tell Gameloft is really dependent on player feedback as they are dangling the offer of Moonstones for players who use this feature. Not that there’s anything necessarily wrong with that; it’s an incentive for players to try a feature that they may not know they’re going to enjoy a lot.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is on Early Access on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows via Steam.
