BioWare Offers A Small Update To Mass Effect 5

June 27, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

We might be waiting a bit longer for anything substantial.

Mass Effect was a massively popular RPG from the folks over at BioWare. The series was much like other iconic titles BioWare had delivered over the years. Players would get a game focusing on deep lore, narratives that kept you playing endlessly, and a cast of interesting characters. But after the trilogy came to an end, the series had some troublesome progression with the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. Still, we know that Mass Effect 5 is in the works and should hopefully captivate audiences worldwide again.

Those of you itching to get a new installment for this science fiction RPG might have a ways to go. We know that a new game is in the works, as it was first teased back in 2020. But since then, we’ve been left mostly in the dark. Today, a new small update came out from BioWare. The update actually wasn’t the main focal point in a blog post that emerged on the official BioWare website. It was a post essentially telling players that Star Wars: The Old Republic was being handed off to another studio.

The MMO is still being worked on but through Broadsword going forward. Instead of having this on their plates, BioWare can start to focus on other projects such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect. In regards to Mass Effect 5, the new game is in pre-production with a core team of veteran storytellers who are bringing the deep franchise history forward but in a new way. Outside of that, we don’t know what exactly we can expect with this game, and it might be that way for a good while.

For Mass Effect, we continue pre-production with a core team of veteran storytellers who are bringing the deep franchise history forward in a spectacular new way.

This project is still in pre-production, and we’re still likely a good ways off from the release of the next Dragon Age installment, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. But at the very least, it’s still received an update, even if it was incredibly brief. Of course, if you haven’t played through the original trilogy of Mass Effect games, then you’re in luck. It wasn’t just but a few years ago that a remastered version of the three games was released into the marketplace in the form of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Those games were released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. We also have a Before You Buy for the collection, which you can view below.
