Final Fantasy fans have a ton to be excited about. In just a few short days, we’ll dive into the next major franchise installment. If you’re gearing up to play Final Fantasy XVI, you might have already purchased the game. Those in that boat might be keen on getting your preload for the upcoming title. Fortunately, it looks like you can preload that game on your PlayStation 5 tomorrow.
Thanks to a report from Gamesradar, we’re finding out that a tweet from the Final Fantasy XVI Japanese Twitter account revealed that preloading would begin tomorrow. That would give players an easier time dealing with the actual game download rather than being forced into downloading the title right at launch. After all, we know that you’ll need 100GB of storage available on your PlayStation 5 SSD, so that is another reason you don’t want to mess with a download for this game at launch.
Of course, those who might be unfamiliar with what exactly preloading is will want to read on. For those who are unfamiliar, preloading is a means to download a game ahead of its launch. This means that players can ensure the game is completely downloaded and installed on their platform so that they can start the game campaign immediately once the game launches. There’s no waiting around at launch so that the game can download onto your console. But even if the game is downloaded on your PlayStation 5, it’s essentially locked. So don’t think you’ll be able to download and start playing the game beforehand.
Meanwhile, we know that some games have already managed to get into the hands of consumers. Square Enix has already stated that they are investigating how these games were acquired and striking down any content of the game that surfaces online ahead of its release. Likewise, we know that there is a day one patch for the game as well, so you might be best holding off for the release anyways.
Currently, Final Fantasy XVI is set to release on June 22, 2023. This will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 for a duration. But we’ve already heard from the folks behind Final Fantasy XVI that this title is completely optimized for the PlayStation 5 and would take time before a PC release would be ready. So don’t go expecting a PC announcement right after the exclusivity deal ends on PlayStation 5.
