Metroid Prime 4 is a game we’ve been waiting on for ages. It’s one of those titles that can’t seem to find its way out into the marketplace. As a reminder, this game was first introduced to the world during the Nintendo Direct presentation during E3 2017. That’s quite a ways back by now, but it’s not the only mention Nintendo has made on this installment. If you recall, a Metroid Prime 4 game build was scrapped.
For those who might not be aware, Metroid Prime 4 was initially being developed at Bandai Namco Studios, but apparently, things were not progressing as well as Nintendo had liked. That prompted Metroid Prime 4 to be restarted from scratch, with Retro Studios taking over the game’s development. But since then, it’s been more or less a waiting game. There have been no additional announcements or reveals of Retro Studios’ work on the game.
Instead, we know that the game is still in development, so there’s still hope that this game will launch for the Nintendo Switch. Now thanks to a post on Reddit, we’re finding out that there was an update on the Nintendo UK website that added Metroid Prime 4 as a game project to receive emails about. There’s nothing outside of a prompt asking viewers if they wish to be alerted to any updates related to Metroid Prime 4. However, this addition has left some fans wondering if there’s an official announcement coming soon.
Unfortunately, we don’t know if there’s any event in the works. One event that has been questioned on whether Nintendo is holding a Nintendo Direct for this month. This is the month where we are getting plenty of showcase events. Ubisoft has a Ubisoft Forward, Microsoft has its Xbox Game Showcase, and even most recently, Capcom unveiled plans to hold its own presentation this month.
Of course, while we don’t know if Nintendo is holding their Nintendo Direct this month, they are notorious for giving as little insight into when a stream presentation will be taking place. At most, we are given just a couple of days’ notice, so we have plenty of time if Nintendo decides to hold a Nintendo Direct for the month of June. That could offer our first new look or update on Metroid Prime 4, but again so far, we have nothing official to go off from right now.
