When it comes to the Silent Hill franchise, we’re going to get a massive resurgence. For years it seemed like Konami all but forgot about the IP. This resulted after Hideo Kojima split off from Konami and, along with it, the cancellation of Silent Hills, the game IP laid dormant. But fortunately, that finally changed as Konami unveiled several game projects in the works for the franchise, including the remake of Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill 2 is one of the more iconic psychological horror titles out there. So getting a remake, you’re not only tapping into a massive fan base that enjoyed the game initially but also getting newcomers to the franchise a taste of what this IP brought to the table. Today, we’re finding out just how much storage space the game will require. This is specifically for the PC, as the Steam page for Silent Hill 2 was just updated. It looks like fans that are planning to play this game on the PC will need to have 50 GB of storage space available.
That’s not too much of a problem, as we can see some games significantly pass this storage space requirement up. But for those that need to make sure their storage drives have enough room, you’ll at least get an idea of what we’ll be working with. Unfortunately, you might not need to start clearing space for this game. Right now, we have no indication of when this game will launch in the marketplace. So far, we have only had one video upload to announce the game. Since then, there have been no additional marketing materials to hype the game launch.
If you’re not familiar with Silent Hill 2, this game can be played as a standalone experience. Players are stepping into the role of a man named James, who receives a letter from his deceased wife, Mary. With no hope that Mary is alive, James ventures to the town of Silent Hill in search of her. Again, while we don’t have a release date just yet, we do know that when this game launches into the marketplace, we’ll find it available for the PC and PlayStation 5 platforms. In the meantime, you can check out the announcement trailer in the video above.
