Starfield Direct + Xbox Games Showcase Will Be Two Hours

June 5, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

When they said it will be a feature worthy of a theatrical release, they weren’t kidding.

The combined Starfield Direct and Xbox Games Showcase will be a cumulative two hours long.

Word on this comes from Xbox Games Marketing head Aaron Greenberg, who tweeted:

“7 days until our first ever double feature. Roughly two hours of non-stop games, games, games, games, and Starfield!

Now, loyal fans may know that the annual Xbox Games Showcase held in every E3 lasts an hour and a half. Microsoft had already stated that the Starfield Direct would be a half-hour long, so there’s no change in the amount of content for this year’s Showcase.

Really, the big difference is the thirty minutes dedicated to Starfield. We imagine that Bethesda wouldn’t have problems filling out that time, but the big hope here is that this is where we find out the lion’s share of finalized details for the game.

Bethesda has been sharing previews of the game, but it hasn’t really been shown in a way that everyone understands what’s going on with it. Truly, the one thing fans know about Starfield above anything else is that it has been delayed multiple times over already. And that may be an exaggeration.

It must be said that we also expect a good show from the Xbox Games Showcase this year. Fans have been clamoring that Microsoft reveal more about the games that are still far from release, even if they have to wait three years or longer before they come out.

This was a request because some of those fans had noticed that competitors Sony, and even Nintendo, do their marketing for games years in advance, and doing so ensures that their fans are looking forward for something.

Even if it takes years for them to wait, which they did for recent releases like Street Fighter 6 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it’s important to keep fans engaged and interested.

Not everything can be stealth dropped like Hi-Fi Rush, because Xbox fans now are feeling like they should be getting more out of their console choice than what they are getting right now. The fact it, that’s a perfectly fair demand to make of Xbox.

Two hours is plenty of time to reveal plenty of games and game footage, as Aaron also very recently revealed. Hopes are high now that Microsoft does not disappoint.

Xbox Games Showcase will be a double bill with the Starfield Direct this coming June 11, 2023
