There is plenty of hype and anticipation building around Mortal Kombat 1. However, the video game was recently unveiled to the public, and we’re still getting little tidbits of information. While it might be a little while before NetherRealm Studios is willing to showcase more of the game with trailers, they are at least experiencing a resurgence for the franchise. Fans are flocking to the past game installment as we’re finding major numbers for concurrent players on Steam.
Those of you who are interested in Mortal Kombat 1 might have looked back at the last installment. Mortal Kombat 11 was released back in 2019 and has seen plenty of players enjoying the game over the years. However, thanks to a post on Reddit, we’re finding that the game has hit some new impressive numbers. While it didn’t surpass the number of players going through the game in its initial month release, there are still quite a few players enjoying the game. Concurrent players on Mortal Kombat 11 have reached as high as over 10,000 players.
That’s quite a feat, and it seems that the reveal of Mortal Kombat 1 has players either itching to go back and replay the previous game or pick it up for the very first time. It also doesn’t hurt that right now, on Steam, there is a major sale going on for the Mortal Kombat franchise. In celebration of the next game being unveiled, Mortal Kombat 11 is discounted to just $4.99. That’s a 90% savings for the base game, and if you’re interested in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, you can pick this package deal up for just $8.99.
For those who might not be familiar with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, you’ll get the base game, Kombat Pack 1, Kombat Pack 2, along with the Mortal Kombat: Aftermath expansion. So the sale alone could have also played a big role in getting more players within the game.
When it comes to Mortal Kombat 1, this game installment is set to take place in a new timeline where we’ll get reintroduced to characters. However, we’ll have to see just how these characters will connect with each other now that they will be reimagined. That particular installment is set to land in the marketplace on September 19, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
