There is a ton of anticipation and hype built up around the release of Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto 6. This title has yet to be unveiled officially, but a series of leaks showcased an early build of the game. With Grand Theft Auto V released back in 2013, fans have waited several years now to get their hands on that next thrilling installment. But, of course, with Grand Theft Auto V being such a massive hit and earning $1 billion in sales, there’s likely quite a bit of pressure to ensure this next installment delivers.
In fact, Grand Theft Auto V broke records by being the fastest-selling entertainment product in history. In just three days, Rockstar Games managed to hit $1 billion. So there’s plenty of incentive for Rockstar Games to use whatever funds are needed to develop the next game. Now reports are surfacing online that suggest this next game installment will actually break a record at launch. According to Insider Gaming, rumors are circulating online that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be the most expensive game developed in history.
The numbers that are going around right now suggest that developers could have spent as much as $2 billion. That’s quite a massive number, but again, for a game series that had seen $1 billion just a matter of days from the last release, Rockstar Games could see a repeat in terms of units sold with this next game installment. In perspective, the current holder for the most expensive game developed is Cloud Imperium Games Star Citizen, which cost over $500 million. Unfortunately, the amount spent to develop the game is not confirmed, so this is just a rumor right now. We might not know just what kind of budget was used for the development of this game until well after its release.
At any rate, fans are eager to see something come out in terms of Grand Theft Auto 6 news. We know it’s being developed, but we’re still in the dark as far as the setting, premise, and features being implemented. Again, hopefully, we get some kind of news or a proper reveal for this game before 2023 wraps up, but for now, we are just left with supposed rumors that are hitting the web. For instance, another rumor recently suggested that Take-Two was looking to make some kind of game promotional material within Miami this summer. Naturally, that piqued plenty of interest from fans assuming that this could be the start of Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing
