Square Enix shared a new screenshot from Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue on the occasion of Kingdom Hearts‘ anniversary.
The screenshot depicts Daybreak Town, a location that will be making a reappearance in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue. The anthology remakes Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD and Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep–A Fragmentary Passage in Unreal Engine 4, and adds something new, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover. Daybreak Town is the hub for popular spin-off mobile game Kingdom Hearts χ. However, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is not a full port of Kingdom Hearts χ. It merely remakes the scenes from Kingdom Hearts χ in HD.

Kingdom Hearts producer Tetsura Nomura shared a statement along with the image on Twitter. He credited the series’ longevity entirely to its fans.
Daybreak Town and the rest of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue makes use of tech that will also be used on Kingdom Hearts 3. As such, fans can expect a significantly graphically impressive experience. While some fans may hope Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will prove to be a preview for Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix has yet to share release dates and details for either game. In either case, this screenshot of Daybreak Town should serve to give players a good idea of what to expect.
