Announced last year, Capcom revealed to the world that a new animated Resident Evil film is in the works by Japanese studio Marza Animation Planet, a company that is owned by Sega. Today, we’re finally finding out the name of this upcoming film which is reportedly Resident Evil: Vendetta. Additionally, starring the film will be Leon S. Kennedy.
Resident Evil has been a hot topic as of late. This year alone marks the franchise’s 20th year anniversary of when Resident Evil first launched for the PlayStation. Now there is a couple feature length films and video games in the works.
Today, Marza Animation Planet announced a few scarce details about their upcoming animated Resident Evil: Vendetta film. We know that Leon S. Kennedy will be the starring character, but also, the studio has struck a partnership with Italian Motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati and Leon S. Kennedy will be riding into battle with the latest XDiavel model.
Other than that, not much else has been revealed about this film. There are a few notable individuals who are working on this 2017 release. The film was written by Makoto Funkami (Psycho-Pass), directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Hard Revenge Milly), and lastly, Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) is an executive producer.
As mentioned, this won’t be the only Resident Evil film released within 2017. The next live-action film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is slated to release in January 2017. Additionally, Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation talked to Capcom producer Masachika Kawata in which the subject of Resident Evil 7 was brought up. While Masachika Kawata said that there was nothing he could comment on the video game, he did ask gamers to stay tuned.
