The hype around the Pokemon universe seems to have grown a bit over the last few days. Not the least is because of the release of Pokemon Horizons. The anime is the first mainline series for the universe that doesn’t star Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, and it had to make a big splash to keep viewers interested. But how were they going to do that? Simple, they followed the pattern they did before by having one of its main characters, Liko, find a legendary Pokemon. But as we can now confirm, this legendary Pokemon will be found in the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC content.
In the anime, Liko has a mysterious pendant that a family member gave to her, and when that pendant “activated,” the Pokemon in the picture below appeared before her. Why and how that happened are still a mystery, but it could be a clue as to what is coming. We say that because Nintendo dropped the following tweet teasing that we’ll see this turtle Pokemon within the “Hidden Treasure of Aera Zero” DLC that’ll arrive later this year.
Nintendo playing coy as the anime did is a nice touch, and it’ll ramp up the mystery of how this Pokemon transforms into Terapagos, who we know is the main Pokemon of the “Indigo Disk” DLC content. As for what we know about that part of the “Area Zero” storyline, we know that it’ll involve your main character going to another academy as a transfer student. You’ll meet new characters there and inevitably meet up with Terapagos.
The other part of the DLC involves “The Teal Mask” storyline. In it, you’ll head to another region, specifically an island, to witness a sacred festival. One that focuses on a set of Pokemon we’ve never seen before; it’s there you’ll learn about a Pokemon and the unusual mask that it wears.
So as you can see, there will be plenty to enjoy in the gaming side of the Poke-world. While we only have gotten one glimpse into these DLCs, we might see more thanks to the anime, which has only shown off two episodes and will have plenty more before the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC arrives!
We’ve learned some other things from the anime outside of this new Pokemon. For example, there was a fan rumor that Liko might be related to Ash Ketchum thanks to her hairpin that resembles Ash’s hat symbol. It turns out that’s not the case, as she confirms her “regular” heritage in the premiere.
