Capcom Invests Heavily In New Motion Capture Studio

April 10, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Games might look even better from Capcom.

Big-budget video games these days look quite impressive. The amount of detail and animations from these games are getting better with each and every console generation. However, it’s clear that for some studios to compete and provide the best visuals possible, motion capture studios are a necessity. Today we’re finding out that Capcom has decided to invest in a new facility that comes packed with two new motion capture studios within it. These new advanced motion capture studios could play a significant role in the quality of upcoming Capcom productions.

If you’re unfamiliar with motion capture studios, we can offer some insight. These are facilities that development studios use to capture actors’ performances and even objects. Actors can perform different scenes and actions using well over a hundred different cameras and sensors. That ultimately allows the developers to go back and turn these motions into the game for the different characters. But again, over the years, the number of details and attention that developers can capture through motion studios further translate into more immersive gameplay experiences. For instance, developers can even capture facial reactions and features, which makes these productions require talented actors.

Thanks to Push Square, we’re finding that Capcom has announced a new purchase with the facility being added into the mix in Japan. Apparently, it’s quite a large set that could hold as many as ten actors so that should allow for some incredible scenes to be filmed for upcoming productions. Of course, we might have to wait before we see some upcoming games hit the marketplace. Right now, Capcom is still bringing in quite a few sales from the Resident Evil 4 remake, which has had more than a few positive reviews. That particular game was a critical hit, and we’re sure that it’s still finding quite a few players actively picking the game today.

While on the subject of the Resident Evil 4 remake, the game was once again hitting the headlines online today. A new datamine leak offered a bit more evidence that the highly anticipated Separate Ways DLC was in the works. We’re hopeful that we will get an official announcement soon, which will at least give us a date when we can expect this campaign. However, at the moment, we’re still left in the dark as to when this storyline featuring Ada Wong will manage to hit the game.
