Nintendo has flatly denied rumors that they will stop manufacturing Wii Us.
In a statement to tech news outlet ITMedia, Nintendo directly contradicted earlier rumors from Japanese newspaper Nikkei. They stated that Nikkei’s report that they would stop making Wii Us did not come from Nintendo. They also stated that they would continue manufacture of the console.

Nikkei’s report also alleged that some Wii U components were already no longer being manufactured, but Nintendo does not seem to have addressed this rumor.
This statement is unlikely to stem the flow of rumors about the NX, which has been increasing in quantity in the past few months. The most recent rumors alleged that Nintendo would not wait for E3 to make a full reveal for the upcoming console. There was also a doctored picture of a controller based on a patent document, and even the claim that Nintendo had snagged Beyond Good and Evil 2 as a Nintendo NX exclusive.
