There are plenty of rumors to go around based off Nintendo as they are actively working on their next big console release, the Nintendo NX. Today we’re seeing a new report according to from The Nikkei, a Japanese paper which was translated by Japanese game consultant Serkan Toto. The paper suggests that the Nintendo Wii U is on its way out the door with Nintendo looking to stop production within this year. If this proves to be true, a release and reveal of the Nintendo NX may be right around the corner.
As mentioned the reports came from The Nikkei which was translated by Serkan Toto. Within the reports, Serkan states that Nintendo will be ending the production of their Wii U console sometime within this year. Additionally, there are select Nintendo Wii U accessories that are no longer being produced anymore, an indication that Nintendo will attempt to clear our their inventory of the Wii U console.
1) The Nikkei just reports Nintendo will stop producing Wii U within 2016. It doesn’t say they will necessarily start selling NX in 2016.

However, what the paper does not state is that the Nintendo NX will be releasing this year, this is pure speculation if the reports are in fact genuine. Regardless, it would not come to much of a surprise as the Nintendo Wii U has not kept a very stellar track record in sales.
Recently, a supposed leaked image of the Nintendo NX was discovered online. The image shows off a controller that looks rather mundane and not very ergonomic to say the least. Furthermore, there was a rumor that began to spread online that the Nintendo NX would be capable of working with the PlayStation 4, PC, and smartphones though we’ll simply have to wait and see just when Nintendo officially unveils their upcoming console.
