Torn Page Games has recently released their alpha build of Gunkatana, a top-down shooter from inspirations of classic arcade titles such as Dreamweb. The development of this game really took off after the release of another successful neon filled top-down shooter, Hotline Miami. Now you can enjoy the game through the free alpha build download or eventually on Steam as the game is currently on Steam Greenlight.
Gunktana is a slice ‘n dice ’em up cyberpunk top-down shooter. Just like its arcade inspirations, Gunkatana is brutal and fast paced filled with lasers, bombs, exploding cars, and the hard steel of Katanas for up-close and personal melee combat. The game is based on the Gunkatana death matches, something that was once a symbol of uprising and revolution that has now turned into a corporate owned slaughterfest-spectacle.
As of right now, the game has an alpha build available to download completely for free. However, gamers are only getting a small taste of the intense combat within Gunkatana. Once downloaded, gamers will receive two levels, two characters, and three exclusive music tracks by Electric Cafe.
Additionally, the free alpha build will also include local multiplayer with optional bots to use as a way to better hone your skills. According to the official Torn Page website, the game supports a number of different gamepads including gamepads for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Mouse and keyboard control schemes are supported but are still very rudimentary thus gamepads are strongly recommended.
You can download the pre-alpha build of Gunkatana right here and if you would like to see this game release onto Steam then make sure to visit its Greenlight page and vote!
