Respawn Entertainment Opens A New Studio To Further Support Apex Legends

March 20, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

A third studio has opened up for Apex Legends development.

There is plenty of hype built up around the battle royale genre. With so many games continuously being added into the mix, it can be a competitive struggle for developers to keep the support going. Fortunately, there are still a few notable IPs that continue to thrive long after their initial debut in the marketplace. One of those games that have found a solid base of players to continue playing the game long after their initial release is Apex Legends. Respawn Entertainment has been keeping the game well-supported over the years, but now they have a new studio to help ease the burden.

Today, we’re finding out that the folks over at Respawn Entertainment have opened up a new studio located in Wisconsin. The video game studio mainly aims to support the Apex Legends title for years to come. It’s quite exciting for fans of the IP, as this just means more talent is working to bring out thrilling new updates to the game. While it doesn’t seem like the team over at Respawn Entertainment was having any major struggles to turn out new content, this at least will keep the game support going strong. Although, there is one area that the team has noticed players having some difficulty with.

The game director, Steven Ferreira, spoke with Gamesindustry.biz about the game maturing over the years. Plenty of new aspects have been added to the game over the years, and it’s become a bit harder for newcomers to join the mix. So that’s one area already that the developers are looking to adjust. They want the game to be a bit more accessible for new players, to join in the game.

For example, the game has gotten a lot harder and it’s become a lot more difficult for new players to join into the community. But we still have a ton of new players every season, so one of the big pushes that we’re looking at is accessibility.

This is a competitive game, and fortunately, it doesn’t look to be a game that is turning players away. So while there might be a bit of a learning curve for newcomers, it’s not enough to sway most of them to look elsewhere for a new battle royale experience. Now we’re interested in seeing just what new features, mechanics, and game modes will get included in the game thanks to the new studio location offering support for Apex Legends.
