People never seem to know an effective way to deal with the people of the internet. This is evident from the way the whole Ocean Marketing incident went down and how the government has been handling SOPA. Here we have yet another example of the wrong way to handle hardcore internet users; Atari, Ubisoft, and Codemasters have all came together to threaten pirates.
The threat is simple, give us money or get sued. And how exactly do these companies plan on tracking down their nemesis pirates? Why with the 100% foul proof method of IP tracking. As we all know pirates all shit at hiding their IP’s.
Of course I was being sarcastic, but many innocent people could now get a threatening letter from one of these companies due to this new plan they have set forth. I wish companies like this would learn that if they just make a quality product and make it convenient for people to purchase, people WILL buy it.
Need proof? Just look at Valve and Steam. They make great games and make it easy for people to purchase them. Valve has had 100% growth over the last couple of years, and for good reason. I’m not supporting piracy by any means, just saying that companies need to get with the times and learn how to handle themselves more properly.
