Snake Eater 3D Out February 21 in North America, March 8 in Europe

January 10, 2012 by Josh Harmon

Time to break out the snake bibs.

Today, Konami announced the North American and European release dates for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. The remake will be out in North America on February 21 and Europe on March 8.

Creator Hideo Kojima had announced a March 8 launch back in November, but Konami later clarified that he was referencing the Japanese release.

The new, earlier than expected release date makes Snake Eater 3D one of the first games to use the 3DS's Circle Pad Pro peripheral. The attachment, which adds a second set of shoulder buttons and another analog stick, will be available exclusively at GameStop starting February 7 with a $20 price tag.

In addition to the Circle Pad Pro, the remade Snake Eater will also make use of the 3DS's camera in a fairly novel way, allowing you to take photos of objects and turn them into camoflauge patterns. I have to say, I'm pretty excited to see how stealthy Big Boss is when he's covered in cat pictures.
