Could We Get A Pokemon Presents Presentation This Month?

February 1, 2023 by Todd Black

What could be announced?

If you’re a Nintendo fan, February might be a big month for you. On the one hand, a few major 1st and 3rd party games are releasing this month that’ll keep you playing games for a while. But on the other hand, you’re awaiting certain presentations that might outline the rest of your gaming year. There are already rumors flying around about a Nintendo Direct that could arrive in the next seven days. It hasn’t been confirmed, but recent history says it could be arriving. But on the other side of that coin, the last two years have had a Pokemon Presents arrive in February.

For three of the last four years, a special Pokemon Presents presentation was brought out by The Pokemon Company to highlight the updates and new content for their beloved pocket monsters franchise. The last two years, in particular, had some of the biggest announcements in the franchise’s history. First, two years ago, we got the reveal of Pokemon Legends Arceus, and then last year, we got the reveal trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

So with February 27th, the date of three of the last four presentations, upcoming, can we expect a presentation and big announcements from the company? That’s what many on Twitter want to know.

More than likely, yes, but possibly with smaller reveals than the last two did. Given the vast amount of Poke-titles out in the world, it’d be foolish for them not to do a presentation to, at the very least, talk about the games and explain the upcoming updates. That goes double for the mobile titles, as they continue to get new Pokemon, trainers, and events to entice people.

But in terms of console games, that’s a different story. 2022 was huge for the franchise as two mainline games came out at the beginning and end of the year. So expecting a title of equal value this year is a bit of a stretch.

That being said, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could appear at the show via its potential DLC. Given the success of Gen 8’s DLC, it’s only logical that Gen 9 gets the same treatment. What’s more, plenty of rumors are flying around about what the DLC might be. Rumors of new Pokemon, old regions to return to, Mega Evolution, and more are allegedly on the table.

We’re only a few weeks away from that potential presentation. So let’s see what happens as we draw closer.
