Players looking to jump into Arkane’s next big video game release, Redfall, will want to ensure they have a stable internet connection. We’re finding out today that the upcoming vampire FPS is slated to hit the marketplace with a required internet connection. That can be a bit annoying to hear if you were hoping to enjoy this game and don’t have access to a stable connection. But unfortunately, a recent FAQ post confirmed that players would need that persistent online connection to be able to enjoy the gameplay experience.
Redfall’s official game page from the Bethesda website offers a FAQ section. This will allow players a bit more insight into the game and more specifics of what you can expect with the title. However, you might find it a bit surprising that an online connection is required. The FAQ page now states that when playing Redfall a persistent online connection is required for a single player along with cooperative multiplayer. That might be a bit disheartening to hear, especially again if you want to enjoy this game offline or even through something like the Valve Steam Deck when you’re on a trip away from an immediate connection online.
This move might not be too popular with some fans, but most might be fine with it. In fact, some games require this online connection to further security. Piracy is something developers are constantly fighting back on, and having an online connection can act as a DRM. In theory, this should make it more difficult for pirates to crack the game and offer it for others to enjoy without actually paying for a copy.

At the moment, we still have a bit of a wait before we can enjoy Redfall. This upcoming FPS is set to launch on May 2, 2023. When the game launches, you’ll find it available on Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. However, if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you’ll find Redfall releasing on the service at launch. This should save you from having to drop the money down for a standalone copy of the game. In the meantime, while we wait for the title to launch into the marketplace, you can check out the game trailer for Redfall embedded above.
