Street Fighter 6 Voice Actor Reveals Little Detail About Luke

January 31, 2023 by Todd Black

Ora, Ora, ORA!!!

If you’ve noticed the trends on the internet recently, you’ll know that one recurring thread with Twitter is the “name a useless fact about x franchise.” Basically, it’s a test to see how much fans know about the franchise they love and whether they arguably know “too much.” It’s honestly been fun to see what’s been said, especially as it’s traveled from one part of pop culture to the next. That includes video games. So one person decided to ask what was “one useless fact you know about a fighting game franchise,” and that person got a surprising answer from one of the voice actors of Street Fighter 6.

Aleks Le voices Luke in the franchise, and you might recall that Luke was the final character in Street Fighter V’s DLC, with the tease that he’d be a huge focus in the next game. He is, as he was in the reveal trailer for Street Fighter 6. Anyway, he quoted that challenge and noted that when he voiced Alex in the fifth mainline title, he wanted to have him shout, “Ora! Ora! Ora!” That shout references Star Platinum, a character in the beloved anime franchise Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

However, the higher-ups at Capcom weren’t sure about this. Why? Because Luke was an American, and shouting, “Ora, Ora Ora!” didn’t “sound American enough.” But the line got put into the game anyway. Why is that?

“I managed to convince them to let me do it by arguing that Luke is a big weeb & he heard them saying in anime/fighting games & thought it was cool.”

So yeah, Luke is an anime weeb and likes to emulate what he hears and sees from those shows. Aleks even dropped a clip in his tweet highlighting how Luke does shout that as he fights.

Did you need to know this little factoid? Probably not, but these details really help make a game special because you can see the extra efforts and personalities of the people involved with the project to make the game shine.

Perhaps you’ll remember this when you consider playing Luke in Street Fighter 6, the game comes out on June 2nd, and things look impressive with the title. The team at Capcom is going all out with the game, and it shows in the trailers and matches we’ve seen so far.

Who knows? Maybe more details like this about the upcoming title will be stated before the game’s release!
