Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy Edge Is Coming To PlayStation VR2 At Launch

January 30, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready for yet another Star Wars journey.

The Star Wars franchise is a massive one, and while there is no slowing it down, we are looking back at a previous release. If you own the Oculus Quest, then you might have already played through Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge. ILMxLab brought out this video game title in 2020, but now it’s been confirmed there is a new enhanced edition coming to the PlayStation VR2 at launch. Likewise, if you missed out on the VR title, it’s likely a game you might be interested in diving into if you’re a fan of the source material.

Thanks to Perp Games, it’s been confirmed that the PlayStation 5’s PlayStation VR2 headset will find a port of this game coming along with a physical release. Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy Edge – Enhanced Edition will launch alongside the headset’s release, which is set for February 22, 2023. However, you’ll also find that this enhanced edition will also be coming out physically, which won’t be until April 7, 2023. So while it won’t make its way out onto the marketplace until after the PlayStation VR2 headset launches, it will at least be available for those of you who prefer to collect games physically.

At any rate, those of you who haven’t played this game will find it takes place between two of the Star Wars cinematic films. Players will get a new storyline set between the events of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of the Skywalker. It’s also broken up into two sections, which have players initially fighting off the Guavian Death Gang and their leader, the pirate Tara Rashin. Crashing into Batuu, players will come across a barkeep named Seezelslak, who will tell different stories to the player.

These stories will allow players to relive these events as different characters. For instance, you might get tossed into the role of Jedi during the High Republic era for a story. Players who want to spend more time within the Star Wars franchise and get an immersive experience might want to keep tabs on this title. While it was already released for the Oculus Rift, this enhanced edition might give some of you another title worth picking up on the launch of the PlayStation VR2 headset. In the meantime, you can check out the initial announcement trailer for the game in the video embedded above.
