Horizon Call of the Mountain has received an ESRB rating ahead of its launch on PS VR2 on February 22nd, 2023. To absolutely nobody’s surprise the game has been rated ‘T’ for teen rating. This is due to fantasy violence and mild language. The rating reads:
“This is a VR action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a warrior on a mission to redeem himself by saving a settlement. From a first-person perspective, players traverse through caves and mountains while battling robotic creatures. Players use bows, slingshots, and disc blades to destroy enemy creatures in frenetic combat. Battles are accompanied by impact sounds, large explosions, and slow-motion effects. The word “a*s” is heard in the game.”
This rating doesn’t really come as a surprise for fans of the Horizon series as the latest entry, Horizon Forbidden West was also rated ‘T’ due to its language, blood, use of alcohol, and violence. The new entry in the series is the first time where the player doesn’t play as Aloy. Instead, you’ll play as a Carja Shadow Warrior as you embark on a mission to redeem yourself and save a settlement which is highlighted in the ESRB rating. That means Aloy will be put on the sidelines for this one and act as a supporting character.
While there are definitely a few people who unfortunately won’t get to experience this game on February 22nd, 2023 due to it being a PS VR2 exclusive fans won’t have to wait long for Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC which launches on April 19th, 2023. This new DLC will only be available on PlayStation 5 however so sorry to all you PlayStation 4 owners out there. This isn’t a completely out-of-the-blue move as Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s Intergrade DLC is also a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Horizon Call of the Mountain was recently shown at the Game Awards 2022 and in a press release the game describes itself as:
