Google Stadia went offline earlier this week for the final time. However, while the service is now completely shut down Destiny 2 Players who used the streaming service are set to receive a special treat from Bungie themselves. Bungie is currently in the process of reaching out to former Stadia players offering them a month’s free subscription to GeForce Now, Nvidia’s rival cloud gaming platform.
So, if you’ve ever played Destiny 2 via Google Stadia it may be worth checking your inbox to see if the developer has been in contact as you’ll be entitled to a 30-day free trial of GeForce Now. 9to5Google recently reported that the offer will remain valid until February 19th, 2023.
Even if you haven’t played Destiny 2 in a while or are thinking of taking a break from the game ahead of its latest expansion Destiny 2 Lightfall which is set to release on February 28th, 2023 GeForce Now offers players the ability to stream over 1500 games on the service. GeForce Now’s Priority tier usually costs £8.99 a month. Alongside that, you’ll also need to own the games you wish to stream.
GeForce Now also comes with an Ultimate tier that allows players access to a PC with an RTX 3080 rig and up to 4K streaming.
Google Stadia’s shutdown was expected for a long time but it didn’t stop fans of the title from taking to the Google Stadia subreddit to mourn the departure of the service. Some streamers even received goodies from developers as a parting gift from the service. This included the Red Dead Redemption 2 content creator Cloud who received a huge goodie bag from Rockstar just before the service shut down on January 18th, 2023.
Whether GeForce Now will take over the slot that Google Stadia has left open will remain to be seen but this is certainly a nice surprise for former Google Stadia Destiny 2 players. Whether you’re looking to dive straight into Destiny 2 on GeForce Now or wait until Destiny 2 Lightfall‘s release on February 28th, 2023, GeForce Now might be the place to go if you’re looking for a new streaming service. Alongside this, if you’re not overly happy with the service at least you’ve got a 30-day free trial of it.
