Lucid Games is tackling on another project as a support studio. You might be familiar with their latest video game release if you don’t recall this development team by name. Back in 2021, we saw the team deliver Destruction AllStars on the PlayStation 5. Now it looks like the developers are lending their expertise by supporting Rare with their current live games service, Sea of Thieves. This announcement came today through Lucid Games on Twitter which unveiled that they have taken up support.
Lucid Games first got started back in 2011, and it has provided aid for a few projects in the past. For instance, the studio helped with the development of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order when it came to bringing the game entry on Google Stadia. Likewise, this studio is not solely working on the upcoming content for Sea of Thieves. According to their website, Lucid Games is helping out with Apex Legends, EA Sports PGA Tour, and now, of course, they are adding the thrilling pirate adventure Sea of Thieves into the mix.
There wasn’t much more than that stated online. We’re sure that this will allow Rare to further bring out new content, with now another development team lending a hand in the production. Of course, if you haven’t been playing the title already, Sea of Thieves is currently available to enjoy right now. The game launched back in 2018 and provided players with a pirate adventure aimed to be enjoyed with other players.
Players would work together as a crew in search of treasure while completing a series of quests. Of course, there are other hostile enemies out in the treacherous seas. If you’re not dealing with the slew of NPCs, there are other pirate crews sailing around waiting to take your goods, so it’s best to be prepared for a fight at any moment. Being that this is a game as a service title, players will find new content continuing to be poured into the game over time. We’ve seen several expansions released to give players more content to chew through and story-driven events that will likely continue for quite a while longer. Currently, players can embark on their pirate journey today on the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. You can also check out a trailer for the video game in the video embedded below.
