According to a report from Norweigan news site Spotlight!TV, a sequel to the 2010 Wii hit Epic Mickey has once again been outed, this time in a newsletter leaked straight from Disney.
According to the posting, which was deleted without comment shortly after it went up, Epic Mickey 2 will include co-op play, with one player controlling Mickey Mouse and the other Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the now-forgotten Disney mascot who featured heavily in the first game. While Mickey's gameplay will remain true to the first game, Oswald will allegedly be able to fly and shoot electricity. You know, all your basic rabbit stuff.
While the first game was a Wii exclusive, the newsletter confirmed that the sequel is headed to other platforms, though no further specifics were provided. Earlier rumors had Epic Mickey 2 pegged for release on the 360, PS3, and Wii, but given the timing of the announcement, it's possible the Wii U or other next gen consoles might factor into the equation.
These latest details essentially confirm what we heard last September, when Destructoid published screenshots of an online survey looking for feedback about a potential sequel. The chief difference is that this time around, the news has come straight from Disney and in the form of an announcement (albeit a leaked one) rather than a focus group.
Expect to hear something more official and permanent in the near future.
