Here’s Our First Look At Cammy In Street Fighter 6

January 9, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

This might just precede an official unveiling of Cammy in the new game by way of her official trailer.

The official Street Fighter Twitter account has shared our first look at Cammy in Street Fighter 6.

Posting for the character’s fictional birthday, this is what the tweet says:

“Happy Birthday to the former Killer Bee, Cammy!

We hear everyone is waiting to see you in action in #StreetFighter6. Show us what you’ve got when you’re ready!”

The picture shows Cammy with a new trimmed haircut. She is wearing a dark blue leather jacket with studs, black and red gloves, and a small sash around her neck. The official Street Fighter 6 website does not have an entry for her quite yet. It’s possible that this is concept art or key art and Capcom is still working on her character model and/or tweaking her gameplay.

Cammy was introduced in Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers in 1993. However, her backstory was revealed in a later game set earlier in the timeline, Street Fighter Alpha 3. Cammy is a clone of M. Bison himself, created from his DNA. She is raised and trained to be one of Shadaloo’s assassins under the Shadaloo Dolls. In this capacity, she receives the codename Killer Bee.

When we are first introduced to her, she now works for the Delta Red task force, under MI6, tasked with destroying crime syndicates. She has amnesia and mistakes some memories that suggest she was a former lover of Bison’s. As established in the events of Super Street Fighter IV, Cammy would later retrieve some of her memories, and is working to rescue her former comrades, the Shadaloo Dolls.

As one of the franchise’s biggest fan favorites, it was expected that Cammy would eventually make her way to Street Fighter 6. Capcom’s producers had spoken about the desire to make this new game one that everyone could enjoy. They hope to bring it back to what it was like in Street Fighter 2, when every gamer could find something to enjoy in the game, and it wasn’t just made to cater to hardcore fans or competitive players.

It isn’t clear for now when we will officially get an unveiling of Cammy, or what her story will be now in the new game. Of course, this tweet may precisely be the tease that comes before an official reveal trailer that could be coming out soon.

Street Fighter 6 will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on June 2, 2023. There will also be an arcade version exclusive to Japan.
