Valve might be best known now for its Steam digital marketplace and, of course, the prevalent Steam Deck hardware. But they are also a company that develops video games as well. We’ve seen several big hits from the studio in the past, ranging from Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Half-Life. But while their game releases are a bit spaced out between each other, there might finally be something new coming out from the company.
Gamers heavily watch SteamDB. This is a database for everything on Steam, and it could give gamers an early look into what might be coming out in the near future. Recently, a new config file was added called the Valve Event Upload. There’s nothing more here to give fans an insight into what’s to come, but plenty of reports online state that only Valve has the ability to create a config file. Additionally, those past config files correlate to bigger launches from Valve, such as games and hardware.
That has fans wondering if a brand new game might come out from the company. Rumors and speculation are running rampant online as the company controls quite a few popular IPs. We’re sure that there are plenty of fans out there that would enjoy a new installment to any of the franchises we mentioned earlier. After all, one of the ongoing rumors for years has been the fabled release of a Half-Life 3. Although, the config file doesn’t highlight what, if any, IP this could be attached to.
Again, this could very well not even be a game release. At any rate, the fact that there is something potentially nearing its big public debut from Valve has generated a ton of chatter. We will, of course, keep a close eye on any new official announcements to come from the company. But as we wait for those official statements to be made from Valve and for marketing to begin, it’s best to tread carefully online. There will undoubtedly be plenty of supposed leaks going up to showcase what Valve has planned. Just like rumors, those leaks could very well be completely fake.
In the meantime, Valve is having a ton of success with its latest release, the Steam Deck. This is a portable handheld gaming PC that can handle modern titles. We even have a Before You Buy video covering the hardware, which you can check out below.
